Softball Performance Enhancement Program

Rapid’s Softball Performance Enhancement Program is a comprehensive program designed to increase a player’s speed and fielding range while also addressing the areas prone for injuries. Utilizing the latest methods derived from Dr. James Andrews’premier research center, the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) and theNational Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), our unique softball program hasgained the interest of college and high school players. This list provides a brief overview of what the program primarily consists of:

Dynamic & Static Stretching – Prior to training, we warm the cold muscles upby actively stretching the muscles in various movement patterns. Static stretching follows the workout, and together will help decrease the likelihood of muscle strains or pulls andimprove on-field performance.

Prehab - A series of shoulder, hip and core stabilization exercises that train the smallstabilizing muscles (ie. rotator cuff) which willhelp increase joint stability and reduce the likelihood of injury.

Power exercises - The main staple of our program because it gives the athlete that explosivefirst-step. The player will be able to accelerate down the line faster or increasefielding range by training lower body reactive power.

Movement skills - This incorporates softball specific speed and agility drills. Combining efficient movement patternsalong with the use of sleds, bungees, and various drills, the player learns to accelerateout of the batter’s box quicker, execute an efficient crossover / drop-step,and gain the ability to react in an efficient manner that will cut downvaluable time while base running and getting to the ball.

Functional Strength – Using an integrated strength approach, we apply functionalstrength training methods to increase balance and stability.

Core – A strong and stable core is critical in transferring power from the ground upand increasing a player’s performance. With the use of various cable and medicine ball exercises, we train the core through multiple planes to help increase core stability & rotational powerfor bat speed & throwing velocity.
